Sunny weather? What? In London? But yes, it’s true, over the past week or so, the weather has been warm, nearly a bit too warm. We spent those days outside and in the Hampstead Heath. Well, at least on those days when it wasn’t too hot. We spent those days lying in the shade and wishing it was winter again. We ate a lot of ice cream and drank a TON of water. You had to do everything you could to keep cool. Probably the best part about the sunny weather was that we were able to pack up those heavy coats for winter and just going to school wearing a sweater over your clothes. Just kidding!!The best thing about the warm weather is that it shows that spring is finally here!!!!!!!!!!-Milena

Wheelathon 2010

For school, we paticipated in something called the Wheelathon. A Wheelathon is a event when the whole school brings their scooters, roller blades and skateboards to a big lap ground and we had to ride around the laps. With every lap, we get money from our sponsers. All the money that we earn by the end of the day goes to a charity called Kids for Kids which in turn helps poor children in Darfur. I did 27 laps, Lilly 12, and Milenka 7, because she was pushing a wheelchair that belonged to a mentally disabled boy from a school that was doing the Wheelathon too. I really liked the Wheelathon, except that the Fifth and Fourth graders got to ride on a real old fashioned Double Decker bus to and from the Wheelathon and that the rest of the grades didn’t.

Yippee! Over the last week we had our cousins stay over. Uncle Davis, Aunt Hilary(my dad’s sister) William and McKenna from Atlanta. We did a lot of cool things together, like taking a long, beautiful walk in Hyde Park,

swimming and basically hanging out. William and McKenna are such troopers. Gosh, my little cousins have probably seen the same amount of London as I have, and they’ve only had a week to do it! Since we had school during the day, they did a lot of London things by themselves, like going on The London Eye, visiting The Tower of London and going to Hampton Court. I will certainly miss Aunt Hilary, Uncle Davis and William and McKenna. They really added spice to the day, that’s for sure! It is too bad my Dad had to miss their visit because he was stuck out in the USA beacuse of the volcano ash from Icaland. At least he got to stay with his brother Chris and his family. -Milena June Rogers

So far in London we have had many visitors. This family are very close friends and also they took care of Sophie for the six months of pet quarantine. we had jut gotten back from the mountains a week before Easter so we got to celebrate it with the company of the Demskys!! Before, however, this day came we visited other places in and out of London.
We went to Hampton Court and got to dress in Tudor cloaks. What made this Palace so unique and enthralling to so many people is that others would dress up in Characters from the past and do real historical scenes and dances, I even did a Tudor-time dance with Milena and Dad in the Great Hall.
On Easter we started the day waking up early ( Too early on a weekend in my opinion ) and did a Easter hunt in the back yard. The day before, we dyed the eggs using onion skins, berries, orange peels and other things because we couldn’t find any easter colors for sale! We even had a go with drawing with wax, although that didn’t turn out as we hoped. We were all very surprised at the amount of candy we found- Loads and loads!! when the Howard Demskys had to leave we were all very sad although we had school to look forward to, after a long Spring break vacation!!
